A men's group for expats and locals in Amsterdam
Amsterdam is full of internationals. People move here for work from all over the world, almost everyone speaks English, and you can cycle everywhere. And still, a lot of guys find it surprisingly hard to get past friendly chats with colleagues.
Social life here tends to be planned weeks ahead, and the after-work borrel usually ends with everyone heading home to the friends they already have. Breaking into a circle takes time.
Men's Connect started in Prague, where it's now over a thousand guys, and we're bringing the same simple idea to Amsterdam. There's a growing WhatsApp community and Facebook group but no meetups yet, and we're looking for a guy to host the first one.

What the first Amsterdam meetups will look like
Think of it as a borrel for guys who don't have a crew here yet. This is how meetups run in our other cities, and how Amsterdam's will.

Most guys come solo
Almost everyone comes to their first one on their own. Just turn up and the boys will make sure you're welcomed right in.
A casual table, nothing more
A big table at a bar or beer garden, a drink (or don't, that's completely fine too) and a chat. No speeches, no agenda.
No fees
No membership, nothing to sign up for. You pay for whatever you order, that's it.

Are there meetups in Amsterdam yet?
Not yet. There's a growing WhatsApp community, and the first meetup will be announced there and in the Facebook group. Join now and you'll hear about it first.
Could I host the first Amsterdam meetup?
We'd love that. All it takes is a guy who knows a decent bar with room for a group and is happy to be there first. Join the WhatsApp community and message Alex: he'll write the announcement and help spread the word, you choose the spot.
Is it all expats, or Dutch guys too?
Both are welcome. The group runs in English, which works for almost everyone in Amsterdam, and it's a good way for newcomers to meet guys who actually grew up here.
I'm not much of a drinker. Is that a problem?
Not at all. Meetups are about the conversation, not the beer: order a coffee, a soft drink or a 0.0 and nobody will care. You only pay for what you order.
